The Annual Mumbai International Boat Show to make port this month

Calling all boat enthusiasts and water babies. With a promise to be the most spectacular marine exhibition Mumbai has seen, the Annual Mumbai International Boat Show (MIBS) returns for its sixth run from Feb. 23 to 26 at the MMRDA Grounds, Bandra-Kurla Complex. It will be open to the public from Feb. 24 to 26.
Following five successful shows, this year will see the latest in leisure boating from around the world, including boats never seen before on Indian shores. In an area of 10,000 sqm., MIBS 2012 will showcase a variety of day boats, speed boats, security boats, personal watercrafts (PWCs), kayaks, boating accessories, marine engines, marine toys and some of the finest, most luxurious yachts, large boats and sail boats.
MIBS 2012 is recognised and sanctioned by the Government of Maharashtra, Indian Coast Guard, Yachting Association of India, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation, and the Indian Trade Promotion Organisation. The show has also received the support from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
In an effort to promote the boating industry in India, CII and Mumbai Boat Show Pvt. Ltd. have invited speakers from India and around the world to chart a way forward for the industry at the CII International Boating Conference titled ‘Navigating Forward,' which will be held on Feb. 24 at the Bandra-Kurla Complex. There will also be an elaborate dinner on Feb. 25, which will serve as a platform for exhibitors, sponsors and marine industry professionals to forge connections and leverage strengths to dive into this rapidly growing market.
The MIBS has also instituted an Advisory Committee, comprising of prominent industrialist and persons from the Government boating industry. The Advisory Board will be chaired by Jamshyd Godrej, Chairman and Managing Director, Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd., while the Advisory Committee will comprise of Niraj Bajaj, Co-Chairman & Managing Director, Mukand Ltd.; Vijay Kalantri, Chairman & Managing Director, Dighi Port Ltd.; Milind Deora, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha; Capt. Soli Contractor, Regional Co-ordinator, National Maritime Foundation; and Sanjay Ubale, Managing Director & CEO, Tata Realty & Infrastructure.
A few highlights of the event will be a display of an Audi and Ferrari on all four days of the show by Club Torque, along with a fashion show by Gitanjali Lifestyle at the VIP preview evening, featuring leading designers. The VIP preview evening, which will take place on Feb. 23, will be hosted by Ahuja Constructions. Two winners on each day of the show will each win a cruise on a professional racing sail boat - J24 and on a sporty cabin cruiser - Drago Boats. The prize will be sponsored by Blue Bay Marine. Club Torque is the exclusive car partner for the event, while the television partner is Headlines Today.
Over the year, the show has seen a patronage of 15,000 visitors including HNIs, marine industry professionals and boating enthusiasts from around the world. This year, MIBS is extending a complimentary invitation to the members of the Bombay Gymkhana and the Royal Bombay Yacht Club. Members will need to carry their membership cards to facilitate their free entry, and each member can bring three guests.
Some of the exhibitors at the MIBS 2012 will include Chinkara Motors Blue Bay Marine, French Pavilion, Global Anchor Holidays, India Yacht Page, Marine Solutions, Ocean Blue Boating Pvt. Ltd., and West Coast Marine.
