The Goafest Committee on March 2 released the first list of internationally acclaimed speakers for the event. The advertising conclave will be held on April 19 at the Zuri White Sands in South Goa. This will be followed by two days of the Goafest at the same venue on April 20 and 21.
Goafest 2012 is being organized by the AAAI (Advertising Agencies Association of India) and Ad Club Bombay, in partnership for the fifth year. In recognition of the growing importance of specialist areas like OOH & ambient, design, digital & mobile advertising, direct, and integrated advertising, Abbies at Goafest in 2012 will have a provision for a Grand Prix in all the nine verticals. The Grand Prix is being introduced in media awards as well.
The list of speakers include Jonathan Mildenhall, Global Advertising Strategy and Content Excellence Vice President, The Coca-Cola Co.; Jean Yves Naouri, COO and Member of Management Board, Publicis Groupe SA; Tim Love, Vice Chairman of Omnicom Group; Steve King, CEO, ZenithOptimedia; and Jayant Murty, Director of Strategy, Media & Integrated Marketing, Asia Pacific, Intel Corp.
Mildenhall joined The Coca-Cola Co. in Dec. 2006 and is responsible for leading the global creative vision and strategy for the company's portfolio of global brands including Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta, Juice and Powerade. In his role, Jonathan oversees the marketing communications strategies, insights, core creative idea development and content production.
Naouri has been COO of Publicis Groupe SA since June 2010 and Member of the Management Board since Jan. 1, 2008. Naouri has been Executive Chairman of Publicis Worldwide since March 2011.
Besides being Vice Chairman of the Omnicom Group, Love is CEO of Omnicom's Asia Pacific, India, Middle East, Africa (APIMA) region. Love is responsible for helping Omnicom and its clients be more collaborative and effective at global brand-building, an area in which his own background and expertise are particularly well suited.
King was appointed CEO of ZenithOptimedia Worldwide in March 2004. He became CEO, Zenith Media Europe, Middle East and Africa, in August 1997. In October 2001, he was appointed CEO of ZenithOptimedia EMEA.
Murty has over 20 years of experience in marketing and general management across the Asia Pacific region. In his current role, he drives strategy and manages all aspects of the brand and marketing for Intel's Asia Pacific region, including advertising and media.
Commenting on the lineup of the advertising conclave speakers, Arvind Sharma, Chairman, Goafest 2012 said: "We have lined up a great festival and a fabulous lineup of speakers for the conclave as well as the seminars. The list of speakers addressing the conclave have the width of vision and experience to make us think about ‘Ideas for impacting the full circle' - the theme of the conclave. We will announce the seminar speaker names soon. I am certain that these incredible speakers will undoubtedly present the delegates with a rich, future-facing perspective."
Another aspect Sharma touched upon was the Marketing Wizards initiative, in association with the Indian Society of Advertisers. Each member of the Indian Society of Advertisers (ISA) can nominate up to two rising stars from their marketing teams, under the age of 30 years, to Goafest 2012.
"This year, we are focusing on getting more clients to be a part of Goafest 2012. Marketing Wizards was created as an initiative to drive young advertisers' participation. I must share that our efforts in getting more client participation through the Marketing Wizards initiative are delivering rich dividends. We have received a very enthusiastic response from young clients. Many seats have been filled and we are expecting the remaining seats to be filled in soon," Sharma added.
