Encompass Events on March 31 managed the commissioning ceremony for Reliance Power Ltd.'s 40 megawatt ground-mounted solar photovoltaic power plant in Village Dhursar in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. It is India's largest solar power plant and aims to provide clean and green energy to 75,000 households in Maharashtra.
The Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, the Rajasthan Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, and the State Energy Minister, Jitendra Singh, inaugurated the solar plant. The Chairman of Reliance Power Anil Ambani with his wife Tina Ambani and their two sons were also present on the occasion.
Other dignitaries present at the event were Smt. Chandresh Kumari, Member of Parliament; Saleh Mohammad, Member of Legislative Assembly; and Jayarama Chalasani, CEO, Reliance Power Ltd.
Encompass managed the entire event, including the ground event, venue construct, décor, branding and technical aspects. Five AC hangars were constructed and the entire road and most of the areas of the plants were branded.
The mandate for the event was awarded to Encompass based on two other projects that the agency had executed for Reliance in the past. Encompass had worked with Reliance Power on the foundation stone laying ceremony of their Butibori Plant in Maharashtra in 2009, and managed the Reliance YES campaign that commenced in September 2011 and culminated in December 2011 with a marathon titled ‘Run to Save'.
Commenting on the event, Zashank Bhatia, Assistant Manager Client Servicing, Encompass said: "It was a proud moment for us working on a landmark event. It is always great to be part of such shows where something is done for the nation's benefit. The inputs, support and involvement that we got from the Reliance team helped us in successfully executing the event. The event was a challenge as we had to work with crunched timelines, tough climatic conditions, and no connectivity as Pokaran is located 180 kms from Jodhpur, which was the closest airport and any requirements had to be met from Delhi. The entire planning and teamwork paid off and the event was executed flawlessly."
Commenting on Encompass' execution of the event, Sanjeev Verma, Head of Corporate Communications, Reliance Power Ltd., said: "The ability of the Encompass team to understand the brief and manage the project in the given timelines was remarkable. I never had any doubt that it was going to be anything less than a first-rate event. The Encompass team planned meticulously and their attention to detail was praiseworthy. The event drew praise from the senior Reliance Power management and most guests and dignitaries who attended."
