WB fires up promotions for the movie Green Lantern

On June 17, Warner Bros. brought one of the most popular DC Comic superheroes - Green Lantern - to the big screen in 3D. Green Lantern ranks in the top five in popularity and is among the top-selling DC Comics titles worldwide. Given its existing traction and anticipation among the audience, Warner Bros. Pictures aims to make Green Lantern a huge franchise over the years and hence, Green Lantern has collaborated with Mattel Toys, e-Xpress Interactive Software and Bioworld Merchandising to create awareness of this superhero marvel.

 

Commenting on the overall collaborations, George John, Director Marketing, Warner Bros. Pictures India said: "Green Lantern marks the theatrical debut of this legendary live action comic superhero - Hal Jordan, the first human Green Lantern. All superhero fans can immerse themselves in the innovative and inventive toys and games, as well as buy merchandise that captures the spirit of the film. We are offering the fans a full 360 degree experience of Green Lantern."

 

Through Mattel Toys, young fans can defend the galaxy with an array of action figures and role play items that let kids relive Green Lantern's greatest adventures. Talking about the launch, Karun Gera, Commercial Director, Mattel Toys said: "Considering the evergreen appeal of superheroes, Mattel is truly delighted to launch the range of Green Lantern toys. This latest launch of the classic Justice League superhero delivers a new benchmark in bringing the world of fantasy and role-play alive for kids across the world and in India. I am sure these fabulous, fun-filled toys will be a great hit with our little customers." The Green Lantern range from Mattel Toys is available across all leading shopping malls, toys and departmental stores across the country.

 

The game by e-Xpress, 'Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters' is inspired by the feature film which brings the DC Comic hero to the big screen. Playing the gifted pilot Hal Jordan, gamers create an arsenal of ring constructs and take flight in outer space and beyond to restore intergalactic order. Anand Khemani, Director, e-Xpress Interactive Software said: "This is a great marketing initiative and we are glad we could participate in the same. We are hoping that this new game will become quite a rage among superhero fans."

 

This tie-up also marks the introduction of Green Lantern's collection of merchandise by Bioworld Merchandising comprising of superhero graphic tees which is the current trend among the college crowd. "With the largest partnership in the country with brand owners, we partnered with Warner Bros. to launch the specific range of Green Lantern movie merchandise. We have a long standing partnership with WB for all their other superhero franchises, which led to a natural progression to tie-up for the movie as well. The exclusive range of merchandise will not only create a buzz before the release of the movie with the demand of the youth heating up for superhero tees but would also keep it high post the movie," said Panjak Sikka, Manager (Licensing), Bioworld Merchandising.
