UTV goes south with launch of UTV Action Telugu
Wed 06 July 2011
UTV, a media and entertainment conglomerate from South Asia, launched ‘UTV Action Telugu' in Andhra Pradesh on June 28 at ITC Kakatiya, Hyderabad. This launch was managed by Collective Heads.

The launch of UTV Action Telugu is supported by a high intensity marketing campaign designed around the thought - ‘Action invades Andhra'. To ensure optimum visibility across platforms including TV, print and outdoor, along with an extensive on-ground activation plan, the channel is associating with single screen theatres in over 25 cities and multiplexes across key markets like Hyderabad, Vizag and Vijaywada to promote its launch. In addition, UTV Action Telugu will tie up with electronic retail stores in Hyderabad to air promos of the channel across displayed TV screens.

UTV Action Telugu will reach out to the action oriented male audience in the age group of 15 years and above. The channel will also offer trade patrons a chance to enjoy an action packed trip in a foreign locale where they would get a chance to indulge in high octane adventure activities.

Speaking about the objective behind the launch, MK Anand, CEO-Broadcasting, UTV said: "With the genre specific movie platform gaining momentum and the popularity of action titles growing, there is an opportunity to expand in new markets. Andhra yields the highest returns for dubbed Hollywood films in Telugu with Avatar and 2012 grossing over 30 crores in Telugu alone. Keeping this in mind, the idea is to bring the best of Hollywood action to the male viewers, but in true Andhra style. We have adopted a completely unique format of dubbing which is of superior quality and is sure to be liked by the viewers."

Commenting on their association with UTV, Kiran Shetty, Managing Partner, Collective Heads said: "We have been associated with UTV for the past three and a half years doing various events for them. The brief given to us was to include a lot of action on stage and hence, we organised action stunts wherein Chiranjeevi graced the launch of the channel by unveiling the logo in classic action style, capturing the true essence of the channel. This launch was targeted towards the press and was attended by 80 to 90 members of the press, including electronic media. Also, to give an action-packed effect, we had Spider-Man and other action hero cut outs in and around the venue."

Foraying into Andhra with an action-packed library, the channel will showcase multiple blockbuster movies comprising of Hellboy, Book of Eli, Angels and Demons, The Bounty Hunter, Bad Boys, Karate Kid, and several others. On the first day of the launch, the channel will telecast Hollywood movies like Spider-Man, Kung Fu Hustle, XXX, Men in Black, Hancock, and The One.
