The event commenced with theatre-style presentations on each product, namely Lady Elliot Island, Jungle Surfing in Cape Tribulation and the Gold Coast Hinterland Experience by Andrew Steel from Hot Air Cairns and Gold Coast, Mark Greaves from Brisbane Airport, Daizaburo Hayashida from Hamilton Island, Fatema from Tangalooma Wild Dolphin Resort and Ryna Sequeira from Tourism Queensland-India. The evening ended with networking over cocktails and dinner.
Commenting on the occasion, Ryna Sequeira, Marketing Manager, Tourism Queensland - India said: "We have been conducting the Queensland on Tour workshop for over eight years now and have received good support from the Indian travel trade each year, who are veterans in the industry and ambassadors for our destination. This year, we introduced a variety of new products in the Indian market, gauging the need for new experiences for Indian travellers. This event was targeted towards the Indian travel agents and we engaged around 150 agents."
Tourism Queensland claims to have lined up a number of promotional activities in the upcoming months with its major focus on digital media. With the number of trade and consumer-based activities scheduled in the forthcoming months, Tourism Queensland hopes to increase visitor arrivals by 15 per cent in 2012.
Speaking about his views on the investment in the Indian market, Mark Greaves, Travel Industry Training Manager, Brisbane Airport and MD, Southern Queensland Tourism Pvt. Ltd. said: "The Indian market is growing at a significant rate into Queensland via Brisbane Airport and we see this trend continuing for some time. Currently sitting at our sixth inbound market, the Indian market is well suited to our lifestyle and climate. Queensland on Tour allows our company to provide Indian travel agents with specific and detailed information about our destination. This, in turn, will assist the agent with their customer service and sales to clients travelling to Australia and Queensland."
