Besides promoting the show through radio, print, outdoor and digital mediums, Star Plus has lined up unique innovations like the Survivor house at Inorbit mall in Mumbai with a view to bring alive the Survivor concept. The activity will be conducted in Mumbai on Jan. 6 and was held in New Delhi on Jan. 4.
In Mumbai, one of the contestants, Abhinav Shukla, will attempt to survive an entire day without the basic essentials for life at a shack created in the mall. Participants of Survivor India such as Payal Rohatgi, Priyanka Bassi, Karan Patel and J.D. Majethia will perform various show-related challenges at the mall in order to help Abhinav win his basic necessities. The shack will be built in the true spirit and feel of the Survivor Challenge with a thatched roof and a wooden structure.
Mall goers will be encouraged to participate in a few challenges at the venue. There will also be a live webcast. This will be the first ever interactive webcast of its kind. Online viewers will also be able to help the contestants to complete tasks and win prizes. Meanwhile, in Delhi, participants from the show were seen at various hotspots in their Survivor look.
"We wanted a controlled environment for safe execution of the activities so we opted for mall activations. We are conducting these activities on the launch day of the show. It will let the audiences witness the Survivor experience live in the city. This will also help us build a strong recollect for the show. Two of the activities in Delhi were conducted on the streets and the response was overwhelming," said Sameer Gupta, Senior Vice President - Marketing, Star Plus.
Gupta added: "To build a Survivor shack 20 feet above the ground and put together the tasks at a public place were our biggest challenges. Also, to keep our viewers hooked to the webcast through the day by creating interesting content is another one."
