The Karate Kid is one of our big films this summer and this activation in Chennai enabled us to reach out to many members of the local community and the press. Seventy Seven put up a great show and executed our idea flawlessly."
Sony PIX wanted to create a unique platform for the film which is scheduled to air on May 29. In keeping with the movie's theme, Seventy Seven arranged for an interactive Karate demonstration by Karate expert A.S. Krishnamurty and a couple of students from his Karate/Kobudo Institute. Krishnamurty also gave the audience, which comprised of families as well as the media, an overview on martial arts and its advantages. The demonstration took in some of the techniques used in the movie and it was followed by a discussion on the subject.
Speaking on the event, Atul Sharma, Sr. Manager Events - Operations, Seventy Seven Entertainment said: "With a view to offering something unique and different, we had an expert on board with us for the launch. This one of a kind idea was well received by the audience. The film was better understood with the self-defence techniques demonstrated by the students."
