The Marie Claire Fashion Awards (MCFA) claims to be a one-of-a-kind event in the country as it not only celebrates the talent that drives the Indian fashion industry, but is also the most fairly and transparently judged fashion event in India.
Speaking about the association with the Marie Claire Awards, Harish Moolchandani, CEO and Managing Director, Beam India and ISC said: "Sauza's association with fashion continues to build new occasions for Sauza experiences. Be it the fashion awards or the Super Model of the World pageant, Sauza has been in the driver's seat, bringing freshness and excitement to the fashion world. The fashion awards have always been a remarkable achievement and is encouraging for winners in the fashion industry. I congratulate all the winners."
Speaking about the awards, Shrutika Dewan, Head-Brand and Marketing, Outlook Group said: "For Marie Claire, fashion does not merely flow from the outer skin; it stems from the heart. We had ‘Eco Fashion' as the concept last year. In its 2011 edition, the MCFA followed the theme of ‘Revive. Refresh. Refashion'. The magazine celebrates change with a fresh, new design and, as always, an original take on fashion. Our fashionistas are women who make trends work for them; they are not enslaved by trends."
In keeping pace with the trend, Marie Claire introduced new categories of awards this year including makeup, hair-stylist, men's wear collections, fashion label with the best retail vision, etc. While Sonam Kapoor walked away as the Fashion Icon of the Year, model Preeti Dhata was awarded the Sauza Fresh Face of the Year. Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla were honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award for their contribution to the business of fashion and Bollywood.
Over 400 industry stalwarts, which included fashion designers, makeup artists, models, choreographers, and stylists, attended the event. They included Wendell Rodricks, Sunil Sethi, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Ritu Kumar, JJ Vallaya, Ambika Pillai, Malini Ramani, Narendra Kumar, AD Singh, Leena Singh, Manish Arora, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna, Sangeeta Bijlani, Vikram Raizada, Purab Kohli, Meher Bhasin, Anita Dongre, Shweta Bachchan Nanda, Jatin Kampani, Sandeep Khosla and Shahana Goswami, amongst others.
