Airtel recently launched a new VAS product name Krishi Card for farmers. As part of the promotions for this card, Airtel has launched a pilot activation program in the villages Gujrat. The activation program has been conceptualised and is being managed by SOI Live Marketing and Events.
Shivan Bhargava, COO, Bharti Airtel - Gujarat Circle, said, "Krishi card service has been created by Airtel to address everyday occupational problems faced by farmers and fill the information gaps. As a mobile service provider, we understand the reach and potential of the medium and are committed to enhance the quality of lives and livelihood in rural India through our services. This initiative by Airtel will surely accelerate the pace of rural development."
Airtel has tied up with Reuters Market Light, a division of Reuters India for information. The Information will be sent to Krishi card holders under topics as agriculture, horticulture, pisciculture, sericulture and animal husbandry.
Commenting on the initiative, Heena Mistry, Director, SOI Live Marketing and Events said, "The activity commenced on August 8 in Mehsana. In the following month, the activity will be held pan-Gujarat wherein 40 villages and towns will be targeted. There are two branded floats currently moving across Gujarat for the activity wherein promoters give demos about the new card."
"We have also conceptualised and created a jingle that is being played on designed floats. Over one lakh leaflets will be distributed to people and during the course of activity they can even win prices. The floats are uniquely designed to open up into an exhibition panel as well. Through the activity, we manage to engage about 400- 500 people per day. As a part of the activity we also visit retailers and will be educating them about the new Airtel Krushi Card," she elaborated.
Bhargava added, "The activation will be soon taken to major agrarian states of India such as Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh."
