Deepinder Kapany, VP and Business Head, Reliance TimeOut commented, "The Bandra Choir Contest was conducted to provide a platform to upcoming and amateur singers to showcase their talent. Our aim is to bring a variety of events to enhance consumer experience and engage local talent. The response to this event was very heartening and we plan to make this an annual feature. Based on the overwhelming response, the effort would be to do this on a bigger scale with a wider reach next time onwards."
The contest was divided into three categories - solo (for age groups 10-15, 16-20, above 20), duets and quartets. Winners of the contest won cash prizes up to Rs. 30,000.
Pre-event planning involved sending out invites to churches, parishes, schools and other institutions. Entries were closed about five days before the event date.
On the response the event saw, Kapany added, "The reception for the event in terms of entries and audience participation was much better than anticipated. Several consumers have requested us to bring many more such events to the store which gives people a platform to showcase their talent."
