Red FM organises RJ Hunt in Varanasi

In order to find new RJs, Red FM organised a Red RJ hunt in Varanasi. The grand finale took place at Rhythm hotel in Varanasi on 24 November. The initiative is being managed by the Red team.


Nisha Narayanan, senior VP, projects and programming, Red FM, said, "This is our second RJ Hunt in Varanasi, First was on children's day in 2008, a small campaign in which a junior RJ was selected for a two hour show. However, this year the winner will be on board with us as a Red FM RJ.


Red FM opened entries for the ‘RJ Hunt' contest through the months of October and November encouraging the aspiring RJs to prove their mettle. Innovative OOH media was used to promote this initiative across the streets of Varanasi. Auditions of around 500 candidates was held from November 18- 20. The ‘Top 30' and subsequently the ‘Top 15' were invited back for the Final Mega Ground Event. The top 15 finalists were put through a series of elimination rounds which involved group discussions and a display of aptitude and wit and three were selected. The winner out of the three was declared on November 30.


The criterion of selection of the winner was through public voting, where the three finalists got a chance to appeal for votes on-air. The winner of this unique talent hunt, Avkash Singh, gets an opportunity of a lifetime to become a professional RJ with 93.5 RED FM Varanasi.
