Prior to the event, listeners were encouraged to support their favourite RJ and join their respective teams by sending an SMS. From the total number of people who responded, a few would be selected at pre-event auditions.

Commenting on the festive celebration, Nisha Narayanan, Sr. VP Projects and Programming Red FM said, "Makar Sankranti is one of the most energetic and popular festivals that is celebrated across the country. Red FM par Dheel De is an endeavour to capture the spirit of the festival on air and bring listeners together.
