This event was managed by Tandem Communications, who also created awareness of this world class water sports championship in Mumbai. The championship witnessed around 350 people from various states participating and competing with each other.
Commenting on the initiative, Rajiv Bhatia, Owner, Rae Sport said: "This is an activity which was done under the aegis of the Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association. Our country has a beautiful coast but there is not much motor sport activity. Kayaking is an eco-friendly activity and is a different kind of sport. We and Tandem Communications have been working together for the past three years." Rae Sport also recently launched the Rae Sport Academy, with the aim of promoting kayaking.
Talking about the execution, Meghna Sha, Partner, Tandem Communications said: "Since the event was organised at short notice, we didn't have the bandwidth to execute on-ground engagement activities. However, the media coverage throughout the championship was tremendous, thereby creating a great buzz in the city. Several members of print, online and electronic media were taken in boats to view the races up close and be a part of the excitement. We also invited the media to interesting sub-events like a kayaking workshop by Oscar Chalupsky, world No. 1 kayak expert, as well as for a visit to the championship by Shaun Pollock and Sunil Shetty."
The sponsors associated with the event were UTV Bindaas, Selection Sports and Yuva, who benefited through signage boards, hoardings, flexes, online promotions and press releases.
