Commenting on the growth of the property, Shyju Varkey, National Head - Marketing, Radio One said: "The objective of initiating the property years ago was not just to find a radio jockey, but to find talented individuals and train them to be radio professionals. The property was initially launched only in Mumbai, but has now expanded to seven cities. Over the years, the property has shown significant growth. We have consciously kept the event restricted to ten colleges per city for logistical reasons. Every year, we have had well known brands partner with us to sponsor the hunt. This year, we have roped in Quick Heal as the title sponsor. Pantaloons and Fashion Big Bazaar, our partners for over three years, continue their association with us this year as well. The entire talent hunt is conceptualised and managed by Radio One. However, we have roped in a few local agencies in each city to execute the event on-ground."
Students from each college will have to register in pairs and audition to be a part of Radio One College Champions, which will be held at the respective college auditoriums. Candidates will be judged on their presentation skills, music knowledge, humour and ability to handle pressure. The shortlisted candidates will then be given training by industry experts. After considering the votes made by listeners and Radio One's selected panel jury, one winner from each city will be chosen and given the chance to host a show. The winners will be announced by the second week of October.
