Benchmark Eventss manages sixth edition of 'Parle Golu Galata'

Biscuit and confectionary major, Parle Products has been engaging households in Tamil Nadu during the Navratri days with its 'Parle Golu Galata' contest. The activity, conceptualised and executed by Benchmark Eventss, is in its sixth edition and engages over 15,000 households during the activity period of one month starting from September 15.

In Tamil Nadu, traditionally, women decorate various dolls made of clay during Navaratri celebrations by setting up 7-9 steps. This display is well decorated and friends and relatives are invited to witness the same. In 2005, Parle introduced this novel promotion called Parle Golu Galata contest, where the best decorated Golu is awarded.

Commenting on the property's growth, Chithrra, Managing Director, Benchmark Eventss, said, "We have been scaling up the property since inception, and are now reaching to 15,000 households across the State. Around 7,500 households are engaged in Chennai, while the remaining are spread across nine other cities. We also have a school engagement program where we reward the best Golu from across entries received from around the State."

The contest rewards winners from each city with a cash reward of Rs. 10,000 while the contest winner receives Rs. 25,000. A panel of 60 judges visit participating households to evaluate the Golu setups and identify winners. A grand finale event is held where the winners are awarded. The contest is also amplified on television through three half-hour episodes on Tamil GEC Vijay TV.
