In order to celebrate 15 years of mobility in India, Nokia has launched an initiative titled 'Project Ujjwal' in Uttar Pradesh. As part of this initiative, Nokia India has provided mobile devices pre-loaded with the Nokia Ovi Life Tools (NLT) service to over 500 households in five villages of Pure Rajaram, Pure Tilak Ram, Bhalbhadra Khera, Baletha and Poore Chamaar in Rae Barelli area of Uttar Pradesh for free.
Nokia informed that this initiative is aimed at driving inclusive growth and positively impacting the social economic development in the region through mobility. Nokia has tied up with Datamation Foundation, a dedicated NGO working in the area to effectively implement this initiative in the selected villages.
The initiative commenced on July 30 wherein a press conference was organised in Lucknow and in the presence of dignitaries from Nokia, the first handset was gifted to the Gram Panchayat Sarpanch of the chosen village. The press conference was managed by Encompass Events.

Specifically developed for emerging markets, Nokia Ovi Life Tools addresses information gaps and helps in positively impacting life improvement and livelihood needs of consumers."
By using the service, rural consumers in these areas will have access to information related to weather forecasts, crop advisory services like information on probable diseases, weather-based disruptions and tips for successful harvests. The NOLT Education also provides educative series of tools.
