Speaking on the occasion, Atul Hegde, CEO, Ignitee Digital Solutions said, "Ignitee Sports will focus on niche premium sports properties with both offline and online manifestations. Dubai Super Sixes, our first international corporate cricket format, is slated to launch in three more countries spanning the far east to the middle east. The global online version of the game launches in early 2011."
On the thought behind the tournament and the brands partnering the initiative, Hegde said, "We wanted to take the unique format of the corporate super sixes international. Dubai has among the best sports facilities in the world and probably one of the best cricketing stadiums. Gulf Oil is the tittle sponsor and Landmark group is the associate sponsor. Kingfisher Airlines, Media Rotana, Star Plus, Star One, Arabic radio network, Khaleej Times, Teknoware group and Dubai Sports City are some of the other leading partners."
Hegde also revealed, "This format will be launched in Qatar and Malaysia in the next 6 months. The original Indian version will begin in January 2011 too."
The event in Dubai will be held under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council and will also feature names in international cricket from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa playing alongside 48 corporate cricket teams from the region. The brand ambassador for the inaugural Dubai Super Sixes 2010 tournament is former Pakistan captain and all rounder, Wasim Akram.
