Mirchi Folkmix brings folk music into the new era

Maximus MICE and Media Solutions was appointed to execute a 12-city, multi-activity activation for Radio Mirchi over a period of nine days, called ‘Mirchi Folkmix'. Mirchi Folkmix, a platform for DJs around India to showcase their talent, endeavoured to give rise to budding talent in the country. Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM searched the by-lanes of the country to come up with the best repertoire of folk songs and then delivered them in a new, remixed avatar.


The activation began with a mall activity and then moved onto renowned clubs in each city. The initiative, promoted via print, radio and online media, called for DJs to remix the folk songs and send them in as entries. Twelve regions from around the country were selected and two songs from each region were uploaded onto the site, www.mirchifolkmix.com. The top three participants from each region were selected by the Radio Mirchi team, and were made to perform in malls and clubs in front of a select jury.


Eleven winners were selected from across these regions, and were given the opportunity to showcase their skills at a celebrity studded page 3 party at Zinc in Mumbai, which was attended by Bollywood actress Dia Mirza and the cast of the film ‘Love Break Ups Zindagi', Cyrus Sahukar, Pallavi Sharda and Satyadeep Mishra. The winning DJs then travelled to Pune on Oct. 20 where, as a finale, they delivered a performance at Scream at Le Meridien Pune. The winning DJs were awarded Rs. 50,000 worth of vouchers and a pair of branded headphones each.


Mirchi Folkmix was presented by Kingfisher Strong Power Soda and powered by OVS Industry. The music partner was Sa Re Ga Ma and the mobile partner was Beetel.
