Tue 21 September 2010
Novel Event Works Corporation Ltd is organising and managing the eighth edition of 'Locations Exhibition Conference 2010', scheduled on September 24 and 25 at Novotel hotel in Mumbai. Locations 2010 is a unique film tourism event based on the concept ‘Films are Catalysts to Tourism'.

The event provides an opportunity for global tourism boards, film commissions, line producers and allied suppliers, services to directly interact with decision makers of the Indian entertainment industry. The film industry in turn influences the traveling choices of Indian audiences. The event is positioned as the gateway to Indian films and locations. It is an annual B2B event comprising of exhibition, conference, Location Awards, along with Inbound and Outbound Film Services.

Commenting on the growth of the event property, Sudhanshu Hukku, Managing Director, Locations, said, "The event has seen 200 per cent growth from its inception, both in terms of exhibitor participation and buyer footfalls. The new initiatives this year include pavilion for allied industries and banking finance sector. The event targets buyers -such as filmmakers, directors, art directors, writers, cinematographers, still photographers and location scouts. Sellers include tourism boards, trade commissions, consulates, film commissions and line production companies. Promotions for the event are mostly being done through online media. This year we have 12 exhibitors and we are expecting around 350 visitors."

"Film tourism illustrates the fact that film and television productions impacts travel decisions of the Indian masses. Not only is film tourism an excellent vehicle for destination marketing, it also presents new product development opportunities, such as location tours, film museums, exhibitions and theming of existing tourist attractions with a film connection. There is a need of a platform for film tourism to exchange knowledge and information and create business opportunities to explore the potential of film tourism to its best and further enhance the prospect of film tourism around the world," Hukku added.

The objective of the Location awards is to recognize and acknowledge the strategic exposure given to any locations or country through an Indian film. The winners across categories would be selected by an eminent jury panel comprising of industry experts.
