Mumbai Oncology Association, a part of Indian Association of Surgical Oncology (IASO) organised NATCON IASO 2010. The three day conference was held in Mumbai to spread cancer awareness among the doctors and general public. The conference was inaugurated by Jayant Kumar Banthia, Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare, Government of Maharashtra on September 16 in Mumbai at Taj Lands End. The event was managed by Green Room Media and Event Management Services.

 

The National Annual Conference of Indian Association of surgical Oncology aims to bridge the information gap amongst the practitioners of this specialty. The conference highlighted the possible ways of making cancer treatment affordable to common man. NATCON IASO 2010 brought oncology doctors together from across India and abroad to discuss the newer ways of treating cancer. The conference also highlighted recent developments in medicine which includes better investigations, newer drugs and evolving surgical techniques helping people to get better treatment and better life span compared to similar patients ten years ago.

 

Dr. Dhairyasheel Savant, Organising Secretary, NATCON IASO 2010 said, "The event was promoted to doctors through medical associations and students through posters at medical colleges. The event had over 80 speakers and panelists. The conference was attended by over 250 people. There was a special workshop designed for doctors and students at the Raheja Hospital wherein renowned doctors performed surgeries on patients for a whole day. The surgeries were telecast live to students and attendees at the workshop and several discussions were held."

 

Nimesh Bafna, Director, Green Room Media and Event Management Services said, "We are a four year old company into events and media solutions and we are associating with Mumbai Oncology Association for the first time. For this particular conference, we managed the event from end to end including venue, logistics, managing faculty, advertising, audio- visual sound and more."

 

Savant further added, "This was the 24th edition of the event. The next edition of the event will be held in Lucknow and, in 2011, the conference will take place in Goa."
