When the association came into being, it was with the stated objective of representing the aspirations of all event management companies in Kerala. EMAK serves as the sole representative body of the industry in the state and provides a single platform for the various event management organization. It is also affiliated to Events & Entertainment Management Association (EEMA), the national body of the event management companies in India.

Commenting on the new institute, Brian Tellis, President, EEMA said: "This is a great step to bring more competence to the industry. The proposed institute is being planned as a joint venture between the member organisations and will be accredited with the AICTE."

As an organization which contributes to the growth of the economy and the industry, EMAK aims to promote best management practices among its members and standardizing event solutions for client organizations, thereby ensuring a level playing field to its practitioners.
