Sony Entertainment Television (SET) has announced the second edition of CID Gallantry Awards, in association with its popular and long-running crime thriller show CID. In its second edition, the awards ceremony will be held in January 2011, and will be managed by Seventy Seven Entertainment.
Ajit Thakur, EVP and Business Head, SET, said, "We at Sony are overwhelmed with the response we got last year for CID Gallantry Awards and are proud to announce the second edition this year. This is our way to salute the unspoken heroes of our country who show courage and bravery by standing up against injustice."
CID Gallantry Awards is demarcated into two categories - Physical Bravery (display of bravery in saving life or property of oneself or someone else) and Social Bravery (display of bravery in combating social evils like drug abuse, dowry, child labour, illiteracy, and environmental pollution). The title will be conferred to two brave winners each in the category of ‘Below 15 years' and ‘Above 15 years'. The entries can be sent till 2 October.
For the 2010 season, the channel has roped in Air Marshal Padma Bandhopadhyay (retired director general medical services, Indian Air Force), Sabrina Lall (sister of late model Jessica Lall), Farooq Sheikh (actor and theatre artist) and Aaj Tak editor (crime) Shams Tahir Khan to be the part of jury.
